Education: Autism Professionals (General Audience)

Arizona State University offers ‘An Overview of Autism Spectrum Disorders’ certification program for professionals and family members who want to prepare for working with adults and children with autism. This stand alone program can be completed completely online within two years.
Students interested in sitting for the national Board Certified Behavior Analyst examination should apply for the Master’s in curriculum and instruction: applied behavioral analysis or as a non-degree seeking student, depending on interest and need.

They also offer a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction: Autism Spectrum Disorders. It equips individuals with specialized skills and knowledge to work effectively and compassionately with children and adults affected with autism.
As a graduate of this program, you will be well prepared to provide important services and care for individuals with any of the autism spectrum disorders, either as educators, interventionists, psychologists, speech pathologists, behavior analysts, or family members.

Drexel offers degree and certificate programs for educators and clinicians who work with individuals with autism spectrum disorders, including nurses, therapists, teachers, special education instructors and administrators.

A 501(c)6 non-profit organization that provides advocacy, communications, professional development, and technical assistance to all 88 of Ohio’s county boards of developmental disabilities.

The Autism Studies concentration is an eight (8) course program which includes an introduction to autism theories, techniques, treatment and therapies (learned within 5 theoretical courses) and 3 Practicum (field experience) courses offered online as part of the curriculum.

The Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) has approved this eight (8) course sequence as meeting the coursework and the field experience requirements for taking the Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) Examination.

The Emerson online Master’s in Communication Disorders program brings together online and in-person learning to offer the blend of independence, collaboration, and clinical supervision needed to develop as a confident clinician. The program is designed for students of all backgrounds, offering prerequisite courses online for students who have not previously studied speech-language pathology.

The Spectrum Education Center encompasses student training, community outreach, and professional development for students interested in autism intervention and advocacy. It requires a 3.0 GPA and the completion of 30-credit hours for eligibility.

Students who participate in Spectrum’s Internship Program work at a clinical site 24 hours per week while completing courses specifically designed for the program.
