The mission of the International Center for Autism Research and Education is to coordinate basic, clinical, translational and interdisciplinary research across a consortium of institutions. It supports the development of multi-center research programs at CWRU, Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, MetroHealth and affiliated community resources.

An advocate for evidence-based treatment approaches, the National Autism Center identifies effective programming and shares practical information with families about how to respond to the challenges they face. The Center also conducts applied research and develops training and service models for practitioners.
The National Autism Center created the National Standards Project, which established a set of standards for research-based educational and behavioral interventions. It is a single, authoritative source of guidance for parents, caregivers, educators, and service providers as they make informed treatment decisions.
