Areas of specialty include speech and language development, social skill programming, fine motor development, sensory integration, Applied Behavior Analysis, music therapy, and independent education evaluations. After school social groups are available for help with social skills.

Therapists have extensive experience of working with schools and individual families.

The mission of the Achievement Centers for Children is to enable and empower children with disabilities and their families to grow, learn, play and prepare for lifelong achievement in society. The agency serves children from birth through adulthood, with a special focus on children from birth through age five.

Their unique, comprehensive service model weaves together education and autism services, therapy services and Intensive Therapy Clinic, and family support services to meet the needs of the entire family and provide the best outcomes.

Achievement Centers has a wide range of summer programs and camps for both children and adults, that range from residential camp (“overnight” camp) to day camps, sports and recreation programs, horseback therapeutic programs, and weekend respite camps. Visit their website for more information.

Akron Rotary Camp offers several respite programs throughout the year as well as summer day and overnight camps. They serve ages 6-adulthood. The goals are to increase camper’s independence and self-esteem; develop social skills; and to further strengthen the family unit by providing a safe, fun and nurturing environment for individuals with disabilities.

Weekend respite– Campers arrive on Friday evening and stay through Sunday morning. Throughout the weekend campers enjoy traditional camp activities, as well as special seasonal ones.

Adult respite getaway weekend– These are structured like the weekend respite program, but with the adult camper in mind.

Day respite– These respite groups provide a chance for children with special needs an opportunity to interact with well trained staff and engage in fun and developmentally appropriate camp activities.

School’s out respite– Developed to provide families with a place to send their campers when they don’t have school during winter break. Campers of any age are welcome.

Summer overnight camp– Children and adults with disabilities learn new skills, develop friendships, and gain independence through this one week overnight experience. Ages 6-17

Summer day camps– Campers enjoy traditional camp activities, while spending each night at home. Various locations.

Sibling summer camp– For one week the siblings of campers, ages 6-17, get to spend a week at camp. Typically developing campers will leave camp with a new appreciation for their brother or sister, and also find more ways to help their sibling with the challenges they may face every day.

Stepping Stones and United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Cincinnati (UCP) combined services and facilities to become a single agency. Stepping Stones serves children, teens and adults ages 5 to 22 with an array of developmental disabilities including autism.

Stepping Stones works with schools to provide an alternative education for elementary, middle school and high school students on the autism spectrum who are not succeeding in a traditional school setting.

The program is designed to enable students to increase communication, social skills, functional academics, and functional living skills while developing acceptable behaviors so they may participate more fully in family interaction and community. The goal of the program is to provide each student with the tools to transition back to their community school district.

Three additional locations in Southwestern Ohio.
More than 85% of participants qualify for government or other financial assistance. Also, there are a limited number of scholarships available. They also accept Waiver funding, 3rd party funding and personal funding.

Music therapy, adaptive music lessons, music enrichment, adapted dance classes and summer camps offered. Summer dance classes are also available, and are held at The North Royalton Dance Academy.

Adapted Triple Threat Camp –Campers ages 6-18 years will be introduced to the foundations of musical theatre in the areas of singing, dancing, and acting. Programming will be tailored to the individualized needs of all participants, allowing for self-expression and exploration into musical instruments, costumes, and fine and gross motor skills.

PASS Camp –a chance for campers to engage together socially through structured musical experiences. Each week, a different musical project will be developed and completed. Camp is led by a music therapist.

Residential services, adult day programs, independent living services, affordable housing, and respite for adults over age 18 with autism. Applicants must be a resident of the state of Ohio.

They offer a Social Living Club with weekly activities that includes non-residents.

The Summer Enrichment Program has been serving adolescents with autism for 18 years on the 80-acre Bittersweet Farms campus in Whitehouse, Ohio. Participation in the program is also offered through our Pemberville and Lima locations.

Waivers accepted.

Buddy Day Camp is an emerging basic communicators’ camp for children ages 3-10 years. It focuses on social skills, communication, recreation, academics and activities of daily living, all targeted to individual IEP goals.

Camp is led by certified Intervention Specialists and Speech Language Pathologists. A Board Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA) is also available to provide support to the staff.

Overnight weekend camp for children and adults with autism and special needs. Activities include sports, campfires, dances, arts & crafts, recreation, and nature and sensory hikes. There is a 4:1 camper to staff ratio, and a nurse is available at camp 24 hours per day.

Respite weekends are offered one weekend every month, Sept. – May for individuals 7 years and older, including adults. Registration deadline for each weekend session is one week prior to the start date of that session.

A grant is available for self-pay families to offset a portion of the fees. Camp Cheerful is a waiver provider: IO, Level 1 and SELF Waivers are accepted.

Recreational day camp program for children ages 5 and up with and without special needs. Activities include swimming, equine activities, nature study, arts and crafts, sports, music and an optional high ropes challenge course (additional fee). A unique outdoor setting is an ideal environment for children and young adults with autism (or others with special sensory needs) to enjoy camp activities while progressing with their IEP goals.

Week-long sessions (Mon.-Fri.) from 9am-4pm. Extended care is offered from 7:30am-9am and 4pm-6pm for an additional fee.

Horsemanship sessions are tailored for children and adults with physical, mental and emotional strengths and limitations. This year-round program is taught by instructors certified by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship Int’l. in a heated arena. The sensory trail in the woods of Camp Cheerful was designed especially for riders with autism.

The use of the horse and equine-oriented activities are incorporated to achieve a variety of therapeutic goals, including cognitive, physical, emotional, social, educational and behavioral goals.

This is a Christian-based camp that offers 1 week sessions, each week catering to a different age range.

An all-encompassing program that empowers Avon Lake students to participate in the community through project based learning, building lasting friendships and fostering success in their academic and IEP goals.

Serves ages 5 – 21, for a six week program.

Camp L.U.C.K.Y. (Language Unlocks Communication for Kids. Yes!) is offered to all children between the developmental ages of 2 to 18 years of age who need to improve their social skills and/or speech/language development. Campers may need to improve: eye-contact, sharing, turn-taking, staying on topic, maintaining a conversation, empathy, and/or the over all intelligibility of speech. They address IEP (Individualized Education Plan) goals if needed.

Each week has a new theme as the focus for the week’s activities.

Several day and residential camps with different specialties, including sports skills, arts, biking and science. Each of the six camp sessions is one week long. It serves children with learning disabilities, attention deficit disorders, Asperger’s Syndrome and behavior disorders from ages 6 through 18. Scholarships are available.

The Camp Nuhop Center for Experiential Learning also offers Leadership Training, Teacher Training, Respite Care and Teacher In-Service.

Weekly based residential and day summer camp for school-aged children and adults. Each week will have its own theme with a variety of activities and entertainment.

Respite camp is available during the school year as well.

SBC has partnered with Macedonia Day Camp to provide Camp & Extended School Year Services to Children with ASD and other developmental disorders or behavioral needs. The camp is integrated within Camp Macedonia offering services to children with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disorders.

Each camper is provided 1:1 or 1:2, depending on need, assistance to facilitate interactions and instruction throughout the day. Campers will have full inclusion opportunities. Camp is for kids aged 6-11 years old.

Camps open to children in Lake and Geauga counties with developmental and physical disabilities. Day camp is located in Perry, OH while a residential camp is located in Burton, OH.

Limited scholarships are available.

They provide services for children with a variety of diagnoses which include physical, neurological, sensory and cognitive disabilities. The camp assists children with differing abilities, while fostering their unique talents and gifts in a creative and structured environment. Summer vacation can be challenging for kids, but at Camp Sunshine, they can truly enjoy a fun summer camp with their friends! Developed to maintain skills learned throughout the school year, Camp Sunshine encourages retention and growth of social, academic, and daily living skills.

Summer day camps are offered weekly in June, July, and August. Counselors (a team of OTs, PTs, and SLPs) provide opportunities to facilitate each child’s goals while participating in camp activities. The activities included will address skills such as fine motor, gross motor, sensory motor, communication, and social interaction. Camp sessions are in the mornings.

Each week will include time with farm animals and other activities such as gardening and art. They welcome children of all abilities, including typically developing children.

Champ Camp is an inclusive day camp for children with and without special needs who are 5 years of age (school eligible) through school age. Children and young adults enjoy a variety of engaging activities including music, arts and crafts, and nature study. Campers also enjoy special guest performers throughout the summer.

Children ages 5 (school eligible) through school age with and without special needs can enjoy all that Camp Cheerful has to offer in a day camp setting. Cheerful Day Camp includes all the activities of the traditional camp sessions, including swimming, horsemanship activities, nature study, sports, canoeing, and much more.

CCA was formed with the sole purpose of improving the outcome for children with autism spectrum disorder and their families. They are committed to offering a variety of programs which address the communication, educational, social and behavioral needs of children with ASD, to assure that they are able to achieve happy, fulfilling lives.

They offer speech, occupational, physical and music therapy, as well as 1:1 ABA therapy. Social skills, academic intervention, and sibling groups are also available.

In addition, the CCA School Program incorporates ABA into their school programming. All programs are offered to students ages 3-21

They provide educational, spiritual, pastoral, sacramental, catechetical, camps, social and recreational programs.

The mission is to assist people with cognitive and other developmental disabilities and physical disabilities to understand, develop and live out their lives as completely as possible within the Church and the larger community.

Camp Happiness is a summer program for children and young adults ages 5-21 with cognitive and other developmental disabilities, regardless of race, religion, culture or economic background.
They offer social and recreational activities, as well as skill enhancement. Participants also go swimming and on community field trips. Camp locations are in Parma and Wickliffe. Some financial assistance is available.

Their very popular Monthly Dance/Social offers persons of all abilities, ages 16 and over only, the opportunity to learn social skills and form friendships. Camp is geared for children ages 3-14 years, divided into groups by age.

Camp activities are a balance between zoo-related activities, games, cultural activities and arts and crafts.

This camp is for children ages 4 to 6 who will not enter Kindergarten in the Fall. Sessions will emphasize fine motor skills needed for pre-writing, grasp, introduction to upper case letters, writing name, attention to task, turn taking, and two hand use through a variety of sensory experiences and games. Mondays from 9:30-11:00 am

Northeast Ohio’s only social skills program that offers all children a chance to make friends in a fun, movement-based environment. At FIT, children learn valuable social thinking, conversation and self-regulation skills; the tools for connecting with peers and forming friendships.

FIT CAmp is designed for campers aged 3-18 who need extra support developing social skills. Camp is held for 3 weeks in mid-summer.

Game On provides an activity and adventure-based learning program for children with high functioning autism and their peers. The school year program meets once a week for 90 minutes, and provides children on the spectrum and peer models with a fun, safe, accepting environment designed to provide them with the tools they need to appropriately interact with many diverse individuals and environments.

The school year is broken up into four quarters at a total of 24 sessions that do not conflict with holidays or breaks.

Game On Summer Camp is a nature-based day camp for school-aged children and teens that encourages social interactions while cultivating a connection with the outdoors.

They are a provider for Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities (CCBDD), can receive dollars from NEON, and many families use funding from Family Services.

A variety of schools, ABA services, and summer camps for children, teens and young adults ages 3 – 22 with ASD. Schools are broken up based on age and academic needs, and are offered in a traditional school setting or in a home-based program. Transition services are also available, as well as consultation and tutoring services. Summer camps are either Extended School Year-based or more traditional summer camp formats.

Haughland offers a range of counseling outpatient services as well, including group and individual counseling for peer support, social skills, life skills and management, behavior disorders, and successful mainstreaming.

Haugland Therapy Services is able to access county funding, Medicaid, Private Insurance, Autism and Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarships, as well as private pay options.

Week-long programs offered throughout the summers and school breaks that teaches children with mental and/or physical disabilities how to ride a bicycle without training wheels.

A volunteer-run summer camp sponsored by Supplementary Assistance to The Handicapped (S.A.T.H.) a non-profit organization. The camp is for children with disabilities in Highland and surrounding counties of Ohio. The cam is held at the Rocky Fork Lake State Park in Highland County, Ohio.

For camp registration, you must call in a reservation at (937) 366-6657 during registration week. You will then have the week following registration week to stop in at the Hopewell Center and complete your registration paperwork.

This is an informal and fun exercise class for ages 10-18 with peer volunteers that emphasizes movement and social interaction. Sessions are separated by gender.

They also provide a Special Needs Camp, which introduces athletes with special needs to the basics of multiple sports.

Camp is designed for children pre-school age (4) to 18+ who have special learning needs, including mental and physical challenges, learning disabilities, autism, and ADHD.

Each day is dedicated to academics, sensory motor development, social skills development, and sports camp. In addition they focus on IEP and ESY goals and work with school districts to make sure skills are developed.

An academic enrichment program for children in grades 1-6. The 4-week summer program reinforces and enriches academic skills in the areas of language arts, reading, written expression and mathematics. Organizational skills and strategies are also embedded in the learning process.

Classes are structured and non-graded, with an average teacher-to-student ratio of 1:8.

Interactive small group ABA sessions with peer models for 3 to 6 year olds to practice school readiness. This program lasts the entire school year.

There is also a Summer Fun & Learning session, which offers weekly sessions during the summer. Participation requires pre-registration.

Serves the following Ohio counties: Portage, Summit, Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Stark and Lorain Counties.

Various day and overnight camps offered for kids ages 18 months through 16 years. Before and after care is available.

Provides opportunities for children and teens with emotional, physical and developmental disabilities and their families to take advantage of many of the Mandel JCC programs and services. Playmakers Youth Theatre, camps and many other of their children’s and teen programs are inclusive and children with disabilities are able to participate alongside their peers.

They also offer special needs aquatic therapy (ages 2+) and personal training for people with disabilities.

For children ages 5-12. Inclusion options and supportive programming may be available for students with special needs.

Campers build experience and skills in music, drama and dance in a variety of genres (from musical theater to pop), strengthen confidence, creativity and caring. An original production about building a better world will be shared in a final performance for friends and family. Campers will enjoy weekly special events such as guest artists, performances and field trips.

For budding musicians between ages 6 and 10.

A one week musical exploration camp for children to be introduced to several families of instruments including strings, winds, brass, percussion, and keyboard. All students will receive hands on experience with each of the instruments. This introductory camp is a great opportunity to discover which instruments interests a child most before investing in private instruction.

Summer Camp in Lake County serving kids and teens ages 3 through 21.
Program combines traditional camp activities along with structured activities that service individual IEPs.

Classes are focused on teaching social skills to a variety of ages (2 — 22) in varying situations. children, adolescents and young adults can learn skills to help them in a variety of situations, starting with making friends and progressing to more complex subjects such as negotiation, sarcasm, and online etiquette. Oh, Hi! also offers programs that help with mastering study skills and executive functioning.

Oh, Hi! incorporates a variety of evidence-based practices including video modeling, role-play, and social scripts. These methods help learners identify both verbal and non-verbal cues to use as a guide with peers. Classes are grouped by age, skill level, and individual interests.

Camps are available for ages 3-15. There is a kindergarten readiness camp, teen tech camps, and social skills camp for school age children ages pre-K through 1st grade.

In addition, they offer conduct behavioral assessments, school consultations and behavior intervention services. They do not have diagnostic services.

Peak Potential Therapy provides speech therapy, ABA therapy, educational tutoring services, dance/movement classes and a variety of day camps to children with special needs or disabilities in Northeast Ohio. They believe in a family-focused approach and support your child through fun and meaningful activities.

Additionally, they offer a resource and toy lending library and academic tutoring.

Children of all ages are able to participate in several therapeutic and recreational camp options. These camps provide a safe, comfortable setting for your child to practice important social skills, maintain a routine through breaks from school, and have fun with friends.

Their variety of group dance and movement classes are for a variety of ages, from toddlers through adult, and taught by a master’s level intern in dance/movement therapy.

Stars and Stripes is a 6-week long summer program for children and teens from preschool through high school. It is designed to target IEP goals in a fun and engaging school-based environment. With a 2:1 student to staff ratio, Stars and Stripes provides the highest level of individual support to every child, no matter the needs.

Stars and Stripes provides specialized academic support in addition to behavioral, music, occupational, physical and speech therapies under one roof. Our specialists work together to formulate educational based activities that promote socialization and growth.

Camp for people age 5 through adulthood who love sports. The camp is $225/week, with some financial assistance available.

Summer Camp at Fieldstone Farm is an exceptional experience where campers discover their unique talents in week-long day camps throughout the summer. Instructors are specially trained to bring out the best in children and young adults with special needs. Available for campers age 6-16 years old at the time of their camp.

In addition to special programming based on the week’s theme, campers will ride every day, groom and tack up their horses, clean their tack, learn about horses, work a little, get a little dirty, play and create horse-themed remembrances.

Eligible children are 18 months – 6 years of age with a variety of speech-language, social/emotional, behavioral and developmental needs. It will provide supplemental social experiences which are designed to encourage play skills such as initiating cooperative play, creative play, choosing independent play activities, completing chosenactivities, and encouraging the use of communication skills.

Serves children through age 18, offering speech and occupational therapy services, as well as support for eating challenges.

Offers movement therapy classes for people with special needs, ages 5 – 25. There are many different styles of dance and movement available, and accepts individuals with and without dance training. Aides are allowed to attend with students.

Dancing Wheels also offers a Youth Arts summer camp (ages 6-14) and a Little Learners summer camp for 3-5 year olds.

Pairs teenage volunteers and children with special needs for social opportunities.
There are several programs, including social activities, respite services, parent support events, a sibling support group, an Asperger’s family support group, and winter camps.

A music therapy program, offering music therapy services for individuals and groups of all ages and abilities. They also offer a music therapy and summer camp program for teens and adults with special needs. They primarily serve children ages 3-21 living with Autism and/or Developmental Disabilities. They also feel it’s very important for continuity of services even after our clients age out of the school system so we also offer a continuum of services to people 21 and up.

They have an office in Hudson, Ohio and provide in home services in Summit County, Ohio and the surrounding area.

They do not accept insurance at this time.
