Behavioral Skills Training (BST) is an evidence-based practice for teaching specific performance skills. Instead of a traditional “train and hope” model, the BST protocol relies on description, demonstration, role-play, and feedback to quickly teach complete behaviors in a systematic fashion. Research provides numerous examples of utilizing BST to teach clients directly or to provide on the job training for subordinates when managing a program in a community or classroom context.

Focusing on training other providers (e.g., BCaBAs, paraprofessionals, job coaches), we will demonstrate how to take dense information from a traditional professional development and translate that into a brief, active, and engaging training sessions for individuals you are supervising. Following a pyramidal model, we will use BST to teach the protocol for implementing BST.
