The Early Start Denver Model is an early intensive developmental intervention approach for toddlers and preschoolers with ASD. At the University of Washington. Christine was a colleague of Dr. Geraldine Dawson and worked as a Research Scientist and ABA Clinician on Dawson’s team that developed this ABA intervention via a randomized large-N study funded by the NIMH (Dawson et al., 2009). During the BCBA group presentation, Christine will discuss the development of the ESDM, its methods, the direct intervention and parent training she provided to 8 of the study’s 48 participants, and recent applications of this model to group settings and infant populations as reported in recent news stories. She will also compare and contrast the ESDM to other popular early intervention approaches. Christine will be discussing Randomized, Controlled Trial of an Intervention for Toddlers With Autism: The Early Start Denver Model at the meeting.
