This session will review evidence-based strategies for managing natural emotional reactions that often occur in IEP meetings and how to work more collaboratively to achieve the child’s educational goals. Participants will learn what key strategies to use in managing feelings of anxiety, anger or frustration when working with schools and how to harness their emotional energy into effective advocacy efforts for their child. Taking real life examples of common conflicts, the speaker will review what supports are available for parents and when to bring those supports onto your IEP team.
